Learning Disability

Involves Header“Working in partnership with Artlink we have been able to develop creative and innovative opportunities together to offer exciting new experiences for and with the people using our services.”  In Edinburgh and Midlothian we develop programmes of opportunity for people with learning disabilities to participate, inform, and develop activity which reflects their unique interests and circumstances.

“I enjoy the night club and go to the bowling and camping and go out for dinner with my friends – what my son and I want to say is he really enjoys going out with the group. He has made good friends and the opportunity to go to places and do things that other young people of his age can do e.g going to night clubs, out to dinner, camping. The project enables them to enjoy a happy and full social life.”

We create long and short term activity which supports the individual to contribute to their community as well as take part in developmental activity which responds to and looks for solutions to the everyday situations they face.

“Nicholas uses and develops his artistic talents in an environment appropriate for him. He looks forward to going and we are proud of the work it has enabled him to produce and be part of. Nicholas has made work for East Coast Organics, Scottish (Midlothian) Badgers, Humble Pie Catering and Scottish Falconry through the Barter project.”
